and the list goes on.................................................
Not to belittle the sales people, but they lose costumers. They could at least look at their inventory. May computer na naman nun eh. Well, partly to blame are the stores themselves. They should educate their staff. Or at least tell them to ask assistance from someone who is more in the know.
One thing I could say about these hard-working sales reps is that they give us something to remember and laugh about forever. Peace.

 | agree. sometimes nga even if they do have the item you are looking for they will tell you ..ay wala po. and then all of a sudden you will see it on your way out. parang gusto mo ipalunon sa kanya. yun na nga lang ang trabaho nila di pa nila magawa ng tama. no buzz.... :) |
 | Overheard conversation between rocker customer and record bar saleslady at MWF Department Store, Morayta, circa 1981..
Rakista: Miss, meron ba kayong Ozzy Osbourne?
Wasak! :D
|
 | usually ang mga sales people sa record bars ay employed not by the store but by the labels themselves, and they are tasked to push whatever their label has on catalogue. I used to give training to their sales supervisors who in turn train their staff na nasa outlets. i guess di rin talaga nagegets nung mga 'bisor yung mga tinuturo kasi sales people sila, not necessarily music enthusiasts... so panu pa yung mismong sales reps? hehehehe... |
 | Hi, I just had to share :
Crissy : "Sir, meron kayong Across The Universe Soundtrack?" (Really Perky Sales Dude) : "MERON MAAM!! Ang dami po!!! (Leads me to Soundtrack area) Crissy : (Looks and looks for the cd pero wala) "Uhh Sir parang wala naman dito." (Really Perky Sales Dude) : "Ganun, Maam?
|
 | i miss tower records when they first opened: they employed people who loved music and knew what they were talking about. just like the tower records abroad --- dati, you just mention the artist. they'll squint, look up, think --- then say aha: it's in rack so and so in section so and so.
wala nang ganun. |
 | That Toti Fuentes incident is my personal favorite.

Customer: Miss meron ba kayong "Teddy K"?
Saleslady: Wala sir, "Eddie K", "Francis M", "Michael V", and "Eddie P (as in Peregrina)" lang.
Customer: A ok...o sige kung walang "Teddy K"...e di Memorex na laang...
(changinang blank tape pala!!!) |
 | hey remember the article I wrote for inquirer in the 90s about record bars and salespeople? eto yun mismo.

 | ...bakit? ...hindi mo type si bon jovi? |
 | After reading that, my first instinct was to bang my head against my desk. Hahaa! Poison rocked! (I can't find my old CD. Unang CD ko yata yun with my own money. Allan Klar was the G 'N R afficionado...ako Poison at Skidrow. Buhay ba mga G N' R CD mo Wam?) |
 | Haha! true true. Nasa Bacolod! Although...i'm a bit scared to listen what i put on that blank tape. Hahaa! |
